Playing Snappa - A Beginner's Guide

The Playing Field

A table, four chairs, four pint glasses and a die. Put two pint glasses and two chairs at each end, fill the glasses and get ready to start the fun!

Visit our rules page for a more complete breakdown of the 'official' Snappa equipment.

Starting the Game

Starting is simple. Grab a partner who can throw and catch and challenge two other people to a game. Have a seat next to your partner, and start the game by rolling against the other team with the low roll throwing first.

You are aiming for either of the two opposing glasses. The best possible throw is the one they cannot catch because it landed in their glass. That gets you one point and forces them to completely finish whatever is left in their cup. If the die doesn't go in a glass then you are hoping to hit the glass or the table and have it hit the floor before they can catch it. If this happens, it is a point for you and a drink for the opposing team. There are four drinks, resulting from points or mistakes, to each glass. A die landing in the glass resets the "how many drinks to finish" count.

Beware that there are penalties for incorrect throws and catches, so once you get a feel for the basics, check out the full rules.

Winning the Game

Bragging rights and the win go to the first team to get seven points. But be gracious in victory, as the Snappa Gods have a way of making every team pay over time.
