What is Snappa?
Snappa is a drinking sport involving a table, four pint glasses, a die, and four players (view a more detailed breakdown of the equipment). The game of Snappa goes beyond your typical 'Beirut' or 'Pong' game by including both offensive and defensive elements that call for accurate throws and quick one-handed catches.

Offense and Defense
Playing offense in Snappa requires you to throw underhand, seated in your chair, at either of your opponents' glasses.
Defense has you seated in your chair, until the die has left your opponents hand and is in the air. You can then catch the die after it bounces off the table or deflects off the glass. This means that you and your partner must communicate and continue to perform well as the drinks keep flowing. Teammates must work together to throw 'in-turn' on offense and not allow the die to hit the floor on defense.
Generally, the successful Snappa player will be multi-talented, possessing four key skills:
- (First Skill) - Catching
- (Second Skill) - Throwing
- (Third Skill) - Drinking
- (Fourth Skill) - Talking Trash
Once you have the lingo down, you could say things like "John is a great player, but has no fourth skill". Note that talking about a person's skills is in fact making use of your own fourth skill!
The Best Time You've Never Had...
You may be wondering, "Why haven't I heard of Snappa?", and "Why wasn't it in Beerfest?" Well, it is still a relatively new game with few true experts. Snappa has to-date largely been spread by word of mouth. We are hoping this website will result in new tables being unfolded in university basements, garages, and back-yard patios. As one of the soon-to-be-initiated, why not start your own chapter, or join an existing one?
So when friends ask you "What is Snappa?", you can tell them it is a drinking sport that requires reaction time, accuracy, and mental toughness. It gets guys and girls together to drink, compete, talk some trash, laugh, philosophize, and prove their athleticism without the need of a cumbersome weight room or a long playing field.
